Welcome
Le Tour de Pork is the ride for everyone.  No matter what level of cyclist, from fair weather-weekend rider to competition grade rider, you will not be disappointed with this ride.
History

Le Tour de Pork began with a group of cyclists who call themselves the “Fat Boys”. Although there are only a few in the group who could really be classified as “Fat” by the medical community, everyone felt that adding more weekly exercise would be a good thing for a healthy lifestyle.
As we began this journey, we decided the best way to reward our efforts for adopting a healthy lifestyle was to celebrate the end of the season with a 50-mile ride though the Knobs of Southern Indiana and a pig roast with family and friends.

In fact, our journey didn’t end with this 50 mile ride.  Everyone in the group finished our first century ride with the Hope Ride near Columbus Indiana two weeks after the first Tour de Pork. Three years later, the core group is still together riding 30-40 miles early Saturday mornings but now we are looking for something more.

Our first benefit ride in 2009 was a success with 70 riders participating in the event.  We are looking to build in that success in 2010 by changing the date to mid-August to avoid competition with area rides.  Check the gallery page to view pictures from the event for proof of the beautiful ride and all the fun during the day long event

Project
Why not take our love for cycling to the next level and create an event that will benefit the communities we call home?  After some discussion, the group decided the Ohio River Greenway Project would be a great cause to support.

The mission of the Ohio River Greenway is simple; to provide a common linkage between the Communities of Jeffersonville, Clarksville, and New Albany, Indiana along the banks of the Ohio River and to promote a passive recreational environment for river access, while allowing each community to construct riverfront amenities to enhance the overall project.

What does that mean? Once connected, the Ohio River Greenway will make the Ohio River accessible to bikers, walkers and commuters of Southern Indiana and Louisville and make one of our most valuable resources a source of pride for all of our communities that border the Ohio River.  There’s plenty of exciting news about the project’s progress but it is going to take a grass roots effort to complete the project.  Go to http://www.ohiorivergreenway.org for more information.

Event

The Fat Boys are making it easy for you to join in and make the Ohio River Greenway a reality.

Just $25.00 per person during early registration or $35.00 day of the ride, buys you a fantastic ride, pork barbeque lunch and a piece of community spirit.

Routes

Four beautiful rides through the Knobs of Southern Indiana with route options to suit any level of endurance.  Each route will begin and end at Stumler's Orchard & Restaurant in Starlight Indiana.

The 50-Mile Route is the “Big Daddy”.  Not easy by any means, but when you finish you will definitely feel like you have accomplished something.  This is the combination of the 30 and 20 mile routes.

The 30-Mile Route is designed for the mid-level rider who wants to finish the season with a challenge.

The 20-Mile Route is also designed for the novice rider.

The 4-Mile Route is what we call the Family Fun Ride. The idea behind this route is to introduce kids to cycling with a short family-friendly route for the whole family. And as a bonus, you pay one price for two adults and as many kids that make up your family.
SAGs
SAGs are spaced nicely  apart and will have energy-boosting food and drink available to help you through the ride.  The 30-mile route will SAG at Letty Walters Park at the 15-mile mark.  The 50-mile route will SAG at Stumler's and continue with the 20-mile route. There will be no SAG on the 20-mile route.
Pig Roast

Carolina-Style barbecued pork with sides, drink and desert will be provided with each paid registration during early registration.  Early registration ends July 31st.

Children under 12 eat free when accompanied by a registered adult.
